Orion Organisation

The Orion Organisation is based in Atlantis and is dedicated to caring and providing for the educational, training and therapeutic needs of children, youth and adults living with physical, mental, intellectual and neurological disabilities. They focus on children with special needs between the ages of 18 months and 18 years old.

During the 2013 financial year end, Solstice donated R50 000 to Wilge Day Care Centre, a subsidiary of the Orion Organisation, for its ongoing therapy requirements.

Our bursary student, Laura de Wet, who qualified at the end of 2013 and spent 2014 in KZN working out her community service year, returned to Atlantis to start work as a physiotherapist at Wilge.

Solstice contributed towards Laura’s salary from 2015 to 2018, and also provided funding for her to participate in various courses towards her CPD points. Laura left Wilge in 2017 to move to Emmanuel Day Care Centre, also in Atlantis, where she spent just over a year. She returned to Wilge mid-2018. At the end of 2018 Laura completed her work in Atlantis. She has taken a break from physiotherapy work and is teaching English online to save up and fulfil her dream of travelling to the Far East.
